Ivy, severely traumatized by her parents’ brutal murder, has not seen the color red since she was eight. Nor does she remember much about the night her parents were murdered. Nightmares haunt her sleep, so she decides to go back to Kudzu Hollow to lay her ghosts to rest once and for all.
Matt Mahoney is finally free after fifteen years in prison for a murder he did not commit. At sixteen, he was not the most innocent child in the world, but he certainly was not a killer. Ivy Stanton was there the night of the murder and knows he is not guilty. He just has to find her and get her to admit it.
Evil hangs over the town of Kudzu Hollow. Every time the rains come, people die. When Ivy Stanton and Matt Mahoney come back to the town, everything comes to a head. Secrets will be exposed and the truth will be told.
This is an extremely suspenseful tale. Matt and Ivy both come from abusive backgrounds and struggle to overcome them. Kudzu Hollow is not your typical rural town; it is full of evil and corruption and the author has captured this very well. Her descriptions of the main characters and townsfolk are so vivid that the reader will feel they know them. I also liked the way the author handled Matt’s time in prison, very well written and not sensationalized. The storyline is gripping; the author builds the tensions from the beginning of the tale right up to the climax. The reader will have a hard time putting this one down.
