Theodosia Debenham gained the reputation of being an untouchable. But the truth of it is, she is merely waiting for the right man to come along, however, even she does not think it can be one of the mad Caves.
Horatio Cave, the new Viscount Darien has a plan to use Lady Thea to make a name for himself that does not include the word mad, the Latin translation of his surname. As soon as he meets her though, madness is what he seems to feel, or could it be love?
Theodosia Debenham’s brother has been accused of cowardice on the battlefield. So when a mysterious stranger comes to her and tells her that he will speak for him if she pretends they are engaged, she is tempted until she finds out he is from one of the most scandalous families of the aristocracy. Horatio has dealt with his family’s reputation all his life, but now he is trying to make it go away. He will do anything, including use the lovely Thea to help charm the Ton. But very soon, he finds that he wants their pretend relationship to be all too real. However, someone has it in for the latest mad viscount and poses a danger to everything Lord Darien holds dear, his newfound reputation and Thea as well.
Sparks fly right from the start between Thea and Lord Darian. I loved how they fight their attraction and the way they continued to lose, repeatedly and heatedly. Because of the resentment the hero held for the ‘rogues’ from his school years, I sympathized with him more than the heroine. Though this novel includes characters from the previous books in the series, it stands alone very well. However, you will want buy each one in the series, so Lady Beware and gentlemen too.
