Peter Decker, police lieutenant, is serious about his job. He puts it first and his home life second. When he is called upon to investigate a murder of a renowned astrophysicist, things really take a new form in his life, with wife Rina.

Growing up, Emil Ganz was a child genius, the all around prize winner. He was dedicated to his work then out of the blue, dead. Ten years later, he appears to have been reincarnated as Jupiter, a spiritual leader of the Order of the Rings Cult. He may have been world famous but in his years, he did manage to collect many enemies. Europa Ganz, his estranged daughter, reports the death of her narcissist’s father after learning he may have been killed under suspicious circumstances, Decker is drawn into the world of the cult. Europa is not part of the cult, rather wishes to follow in her father’s footprints, following his scientific data and research.

Decker has too many unanswered questions. After the death of an enigmatic leader, Emil Ganz, comes to surface, there is something amiss. Not long after his death, Decker and the LAPD are thrown into the investigation but someone blocks their search. When another death takes place, Decker and the others are shocked that it is inside the elements of the cult. Decker calls upon his longtime partner, Marge to add her two-cents worth. He needs her to find anything on the case that might not point to suicide. The unraveling of the secret of the Order of the Rings cult leaves quite a bit of horror on those examining the clues and the growing number of suspects.

Jupiter’s Bones is gripping. The well-drawn characters create a search so real; I was caught up in the events. The foundation is solid like a rock and has a way of lending much thought. There are the usual suspects that keep the reader on their toes, not to mention a twist in Peter’s life, with his own personal problems. Faye Kellerman pens an intriguing suspense, not only top-notch but magnetic. This thrilling read holds the readers interest until the gripping conclusion. I found the story of the cult an in-depth part of the storyline. Ms. Kellerman lures the reader into an explosion that grabs in this thriller.
