Beth Flynn is a twelve year-old girl growing up on a ranch owned by her father. She has a twin brother, Earl, and five older sisters. She spends many days playing with her brother and her sister, Jewels.

Jewels is special. She was brain damaged by a severe accident when she was only eight years old. She treasures her family and loves pretending to be a queen.

The Flynn family is a tight-knit family. They even consider their ranch hands as part of the family and enjoy spending time together. Soon secrets are revealed that could change the way they feel about each other. Is this family strong enough to withstand something so huge that could tear them apart?

Jewels Treasured By Her Family is a fictional account of a large family and how it deals with secrets and one another. Although Ms. Johnson has written a creative tale, it still needs much work. It became hard to follow as the points of view changed without warning and the first person narrative of Beth did not sound like the words of a twelve year-old girl. This author does have potential and with some editing should continue to write moving stories.
