Molly is the manager of a bookstore and longs to be a writer. She has just ended a relationship, but her ex does not agree. She does not want to like the new storeowner’s son, but cannot seem to help herself.

Kate has created a new life for herself in Burnaby. The former shoe designer now works in a shoe store and runs a dummy dating service in her spare time. She is drawn to her new client, Angus, but she is not looking for a relationship, ever.

Paige is a happily married mother of two running for political office. It is a tough race, her oldest is out of control and she has just found out that she is pregnant again.

Three friends living in a small Irish town pursue their dreams in love and career.

I really enjoyed this novel. The three women are very real and I felt like I knew them by the end of the book. Molly is unsure of herself and her writing and her ex stalks her. Her Sam is sexy and sensitive and creative, perfect for her. Kate left a high-powered career when she found out that the man she loved was married. The slower pace of her grandmother’s hometown suits her, and Angus is just the sensitive and patient man she needs. Paige is running hard for political office and her family is falling by the wayside, and that is before she finds out she is pregnant. I found her drinking disturbing, but she is an honest politician and I could not help rooting for her to win the election. The author captures life in a small town well, seen through everyone’s involvement in a political campaign and book festival. I fell in love with Burnaby and its inhabitants and urge everyone to visit.
