Kathryn Mitchell has wanted nothing except to be a female private detective, and since her father’s murder eleven months ago, has managed to be just that. She is on a probationary period, working for the Burr Agency. The case she is working on currently is a simple one, try and recover stolen money from The Overland Bank in Boston.

Jamie Donovan works for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. He is assigned to help recover silver certificates from the First National Bank of Boston. But he is also trailing the man who killed Katie’s father. Jamie feels it is his duty to look out for the girl, and keep her out of too much trouble.

When Jamie and Kathryn’s two cases intermingle with each other, more then just their jobs get mixed up. Katie has a lot of trouble ignoring Jamie’s Irish charm, and flirtatious nature. But can these two professionals keep their desires at bay long enough to solve the case that will not only bring down one of the biggest crimes of their careers, but also solve the murder of Katie’s Father. With bullets flying and Jamie’s need to protect her will Katie find more then just a job at the end of the day?

The character of Jamie Donovan is wonderfully written. His lapses into Irish brogue and charming, flirty nature make you fall in love with him almost immediately. The over all story is an exciting ride of love, murder and mystery. The reason I gave this book a 3 cup rating was the female character was a bit too predictable, and even though was written to be independent, spent way to much time depending on the male character. Overall I liked the story, and hope that I get the chance to read more by this author.
