Sonya Penn misses her parents. They were super heroes and she enjoyed being near them. She is working as a physical therapist but something is missing in her life. Maybe the next client will be the answer.
John Arlen is furious about his weakened condition after being attacked. He never leaves his house and his stubborn pride will not let him ask for help. He needs to be stronger to take on the Engineer that killed his father. No physical therapist has helped his condition and he hopes the next one will finally be able to do something.
Sonya is unable to become a superhero. Her parents’ deaths made her keep it a secret. Now, after twelve years, she might be able to help someone with her powers. She just has to remember what her parent's teachings. Her client John Arlen is at first hesitant about accepting her help. John's attitude changes when the police call to tell Sonya that is injured. John still does not want her involved, but realizes she could help him get the justice he needs. Sonya may have to share her secret, but will it do any good or be her worst mistake?
While this fantasy had a superhero side to the story, it just seemed to fall flat. I sympathized with what Sonya goes through. She is a strong woman who keeps second-guessing herself. Her decision is not an easy one and it seems to overshadow everything else. Maybe that was intentional, but it did not seem enough for me. I liked the romance but found the ending predictable at best. I had high hopes for this story after reading the blurb. It certainly is a good read but unfortunately not one that I will remember for very long.
