Vampire/Paranormal Romance
Rating: 4 Cups

Daphne Urban is a vampire blackmailed into joining Team Darkwing. The Feds gave her an ultimatum, join and spy for the government or face termination. Not wishing to draw attention to herself, she prefers to stay under the radar.

St Julien Fitzmaurice is Daphne’s lover. He oozes sex appeal. He is still trying to decide what kind of life he really wishes to have with Daphne.

Daphne is in the middle of some passion with Fitz when Mar-Mar calls. Daphne knows it must be urgent for her boss to summon. This time it involves a kidnapping of ten teenage girls, the Al Qaeda, one billion dollars and a nearly unstoppable assault weapon. Team Darkwing must not only locate the teenage girls but replace new members with those that are gone. Gathering new recruits, Daphne goes on her mission. With everything else in Daphne’s life, she must decide where her relationship is headed as they embark on their latest quest.

I do not think I can say enough about this book. It is the first that I have read but the moment I started the introduction, the voice of Savannah Russe hooked me and I could not put this page-turner down. In The Blood is one mesmerizing read. Daphne is a strong heroine while still exhibiting feelings that show her soft feminine side. I liked the interaction between her and her mother. Fitz is like a candle whose wick never burns out. When the two of them are together, it is sinfully delicious with some moments that just grab hold of the heart. With the addition of the myriad cast of secondary characters, some wit, intrigue and a knock-out ending, Ms. Russe weaves a tale that left me desiring more from this talented author.
