Saylor Keene is a focused and dedicated young woman. She promised her late mother
that she would become a doctor and that is what she will do. Lonely and exhausted, she
is a prime target for a hungry creature who preys on a woman’s needs and desires. The
very things that Saylor has ignored in favor of her studies. When things are ignored,
though, they have a way of sneaking up on you.
Thane has lived on the edge of reality for six centuries, always on the outside, living off
the desires of the women he visits in their dreams. He yearns to step back into the light,
but is unable to find the right woman to break the curse that a witch put on him so long
ago. His heart is ancient and starved for love, real love.
Saylor Keene is just like any other medical student; tired, busy, and too piled down with
studying to worry about a social life. So when she meets a mysterious, but handsome
man in the library parking lot, her only thought is that she wished she had the time to
date someone like him. Little does she know that Thane is not an ordinary man, and she
will be seeing him again very soon in her dreams.
I enjoyed this short story for the softly tormented quality of the hero and the realistic
reactions of the heroine. There was a blurring between reality and dream with each
encounter until neither knew if their feelings were just real or just an illusion brought
about by some very dreamy sex.
