Rachel Hansen is a strong woman in spite of her past and the decisions she made in her life. She wants what is best for her children, but at the same time does not want them to make the same mistakes she did. She is a protective mother, but must learn to relinquish control.

Evan, Rachel’s husband, is a gentle guy. He thinks the life they started out with was wonderful and has to help Rachel see that. He is also very relaxed. He too wants the best for their children and is willing to let go.

Their daughter Julie tells her parents that she and her fiancé Nathan are eloping. Rachel is very hesitant to let that happen after how rough their marriage started. She is unsure of how it will go for Julie since she is 18. With Rachel wanting the best for Julie, she has to be reminded of all the good things that happened for her and Evan. Can she reconcile that and look forward to having a son-in-law?

I give this story a rating of 4 cups. It gives a really good glimpse into this family’s life. It puts into words the feelings I may deal with some day. I can relate because being a mom myself, I am not looking forward to the time when my son will stand up to me. Ms. Bayley-Burke is able to paint a vivid picture of a tough decision and the results of them. She also shows the choices you may make in life affect how you end up conducting yourself with your children. I felt the story was believable since many people elope to escape the stress of planning a wedding. It was a wonderful story and very heart felt.
