Jess is determined to get revenge against the man who raped and murdered her little sister. Her final moments are immortalized in a snuff film. What she does not realize is that her murder and that of several other girls is part of a much larger plan by a very evil vampire.
Vax thought that he had retired from his Hunter duties but could not resist this call. He is destined to save Jess from the fate that the owner of Debach has planned for her. He thought that he was unable to have any kind of feelings for a woman since the death of his wife so long ago, but Jess and her determination haunt him.
An evil vampire is experimenting on witches and other supernatural creatures. He is trying to create a hybrid army that the Hunters will be unable to stop. It is up to Vax and Jess, with the help of Kelsey and Malachi to stop the threat.
This is a very good addition to the Hunters series. I wanted to see more of Vax and Jess is a wonderfully strong character, not Hunter material, but with powers of her own. Her telekinesis makes for a few surprising moments for both Vax and the reader. They have a rocky but very exciting romance. The villains are very very evil, both Fitzpatrick and Masters will make your skin crawl. Malachi, as usual, makes the reader both like and dislike him, but his relationship to Kelsey makes him more lovable, not just intimidating and powerful. Vax is complicated as usual, he does not want to be there but gives the problem everything he has, so much so that he falls for Jess and does not know what to do about it. This is a great story and I cannot wait until the next one.
