HOT IN THE CITY – KEY WEST
Rating: 4 Cups
KEY WEST is the third book in the Ellora’s Cave successful Hot in the City series by
Lacey Alexander, and it is great. It reads similar to the first two with plenty of sex and
interesting characters in a beautiful, exciting setting.
The heroine, Carrie Marsh, catches her fiancée with a bridesmaid on her wedding day.
Deciding to hide out of town, she uses her honeymoon trip to KEY WEST for her
escape. Chris McCann fell in love with KEY WEST on a visit and stayed. Working a
number of jobs, he runs into Carrie a few times and sweeps her off her feet. Together
they plan to enjoy their time together not realizing it might be hard to say good-bye.
Fans of Ms Alexander’s previous books know that physical attraction and sex are the
main focus at the start of her characters’ relationships. It is later that appreciation for
the person, and eventually love, will develop as both Carrie and Chris face major
decisions on what they are willing to do to stay together.
KEY WEST is full of sex, including more than a few ménage a tois and voyeurism, but
never feels tacky. As Cassie changes her perspective on both herself and sex, I could
feel her joy come across the pages while I read. While I might be thinking “I can’t
believe they did that in public,”I was very moved by the caring Chris and Carrie showed
for each other throughout the book.
There are at least two candidates for sequels; but I am hoping Scott, Chris’ best friend,
is next. His character was excellent and my favorite of all the background characters
who help to give the story depth.
KEY WEST is a hot read and definitely a romance. Carrie and Chris are a wonderful
couple who only expected a quick fling in paradise. Instead, they fall in love and
willingly offer themselves to whatever could please and excite their partner in almost
every conceivable way, repeatedly. With a gorgeous setting and wonderful characters,
I know I will read KEY WEST again, and it is definitely a book I will keep.
