Charlotte deShawn is unsure what she wants to be when she grows up. Her only real talent lies in construction, but that is not a viable option for this southern belle. For now, she is filling in for her adopted father at his private investigation business, but nothing much is going on.
Griff Parrish has been left half of the hotel that his stepfather rebuilt and established. The other half will go to the daughter of Otis’ murdered partner, if she can be found. This is an opportunity to get closer to Charlotte, but certain secrets could ruin everything.
Four orphans with mysterious origins, a thirty year old murder mystery, a missing necklace, a run down morgue, an historic hotel, and three sexy men make for a wild time in Savannah. Charlotte’s attempt to find a missing heiress only adds to the fun and danger.
This story is a wonderful combination of romance, mystery, suspense, and humor. Charlotte is a wonderfully real character, from her red hair to her voluptuous size twelve body. Her relationship with the other three orphans is closer than sisters. Their origins are very mysterious. Her relationship with Griff is rocky, largely because of his mother and the secrets they are keeping. There are several subplots that add to the fun; the most important is Prissy’s romance with the bank president. I loved the ghosts and cannot wait to see what happens to the morgue, BeBe and Brie. The mysterious missing necklace can only lead to trouble in the future, as can Brie’s relationship with Beau Cleveland, the local mob boss’s son. The setting, characters, and plot make this a story that just cannot miss.
