Monica is a writer with very vivid erotic fantasies. She is also agoraphobic and has not
left her home in a long time. She comes upon the website for Labors of Love, an escort
service, and orders some companionship for the evening.
Ryan is a college student forced by rising expenses to work as a phone sex operator
and then, when his Jeep dies and his grandmother’s nursing home fees rise, he takes a
job at Labors of Love. Monica is his first client.
Monica and Ryan see a lot of each other and, gradually, Monica makes some effort to
get over her phobias. Ryan’s career at Labors of Love is short but memorable, until
Monica hurts his feelings and he cuts off their relationship. Monica is determined to find
him, apologize, and hopefully turn their relationship into something more.
This is a surprisingly good erotic novella, given the standard damaged woman hires a
man for sex and falls in love scenario. The characters are very likable and realistic, and
the story flows very well. Monica’s fantasies and the sex scenes between her and Ryan
are very well written, and I loved the ending.
