Riana knows that as a woman she has very little hope for survival. The only hope she does have is to find a man and offer herself to him in return for protection.

Cain has been on the prison planet for a year, he has survived by isolating himself from the other inmates. Granted special privileges for good behavior he has the only cell with a door that locks. No other prisoner would dare get in Cain’s way or try to take what is his.

When Riana arrives at the prison, she is immediately drawn to Cain. There is something about him that sets him apart from the other prisoners. Riana follows her instincts and offers herself to him in the hope that he will save her, and use his strength to insure her safety. As Cain comes to her rescue, Riana knows that from now on she must surrender to his every desire.

I do not usually think of prisons as erotic but this is a fantasy where the setting takes on a life of its own. This story appeals to my darker side; there is something very sensual about the way these two characters have to depend on each other for survival. The heat between Riana and Cain is electrifying and delicious. I also really enjoyed the plot. Hold by Zannie Adams is a well-developed and suspenseful tale.
