Lady Gemma St. Martin lives outside the convention of her social order. As a Duke’s daughter, she goes beyond the boundaries of doing what women are supposed to do, deciding to set her own rules.

Hart MacKinnon has been sent to chaperone Lady Gemma. He finds her amusing, beautiful and charming. This will most assuredly be a challenging task. He is only earning wages supplied by her brother which involves so much more.

Gemma likes to ride alone whereas her brother insists she needs a chaperone. She is out on a ride when she comes upon Hart. The moment they meet, fireworks begin. As a woman who is set to be wed in three months, Hart believes she is marrying the wrong man. He knows about her intended the Earl, and finds him a prick. Gemma believes the Highlander is a vile, snake-tongued creature. She needs no one to ride along with her. She wants to experience real adventure, real life. Hart decides to accompany her wishes when he kidnaps her and captures her just for him. Even if she is reckless and hotheaded, he feels she will be the grand wife for him. Can she allow her feistiness to simmer down and surrender her heart to his demands?

His Lady’s Keeper is a fantastic read. I love the camaraderie Gemma and Hart share. It is fun watching them interact together. She has spirit and matches up to him greatly. The chemistry between them is awesome and their dialogue pulls me into the story immediately. Marly Mathews generates a stirring tale that is truly a wonderful read. With just the right amount of intrigue and gusto to keep the reader guessing, she blends in secondary characters that add just the right zing to the pot, while leaving the reader captivated.
