Kara Malone always thought her grandmother, Glynnis, knew way too much about ancient Scotland. When she finds a talisman that her grandmother talked about, she rubs it for comfort. Finding herself in a world known to her only in stories, Kara must figure out how to get back home. Or so she thinks until she meets the rugged and handsome Alaxandar.
Alaxandar MacLeod is focused on his clan since he will take over as Laird some day. Trouble seems to start when the beautiful Kara shows up. He has no idea who she is or where she comes from but his people think she is a witch. He does know that whenever he is near her all he wants to do is take her to his bed.
Finding a love that should not be there with Alaxandar is driving Kara crazy. They are from two different worlds. She can be stubborn, but not when her heart is at stake. Now she must decide which is more important, getting back home to her new job or finally finding a love that could last. She does not want to cause problems yet her strength will see her through.
Ms. McBride's tale swept me up from the beginning. Reading about Ancient Scotland is so much fun! I loved seeing Kara’s reactions to every thing going on around her. It made me re-think life in that time. Women may not have had the power but they are able to hold sway in the most important thing, love. This book is one that will not leave my mind for a while and one I want to revisit not only for the strong characters but also for the rich landscape so wonderfully described.
