Psychologist Tory Hoffstra’s profession is helping people work through their problems, including relationship issues. Unfortunately she is not the best source for advice. She only recently broke off a dead-end relationship of eight years that should have ended years ago.
Keenan James, confirmed bachelor and celebrity, gives relationship advice to women. He is not a professional therapist, but holds round table discussions where he gives women advice from a male perspective. Besides dealing with a busy schedule, Keenan is also taking care of his mother’s dog, Barbra Streisand, while she is in a nursing home.
When Tory pitches a book idea to a publisher, he tells her that he wants her to co-author a book with Keenan James. At first she is totally against it because she does not respect Keenan and his so-called “psychobabble”. She eventually decides to attend a few of Keenan’s round table discussions incognito to see what he is all about and if she thinks that she can work with him. In the process of disguising herself, she discovers how great she looks and feels wearing make-up and nice clothes. When Keenan shows an interest in her, it is hard for Tory to put aside her insecurities and learn to trust him.
Elaine Fox has created another winner. Hello, Doggy! is the type of book that sucks you in right away. You cannot wait to see what happens next and you yearn for the hero and heroine to get together. Not only are the characters fantastic, but the dog and the way the characters interact with her is a bonus treat. This novel also creates a fairy tale type feeling. Tory is a “plain Jane” kind of woman and the right clothes and make-up help her come out of her shell and be the beautiful woman that she is. Hello, Doggy! is a light and very fun book that will appeal to many readers.
