Between new shoes and an ancient curse, Meriel Byrne’s life was changed forever the night she tripped off a cliff and fell into the sea. Transformed into a real life creature of myth, this Selkie must find the key to unlock her from a long-forgotten family foil.

Ronan Burbank led a charmed life filled with wealth, privilege, a booming business, and social life. One tragic night reversed his fortune until he is but a footnote of his former self. Now, he ambles aimlessly through what life he has managed to hold onto or piece together.

When the boat Ronan has drunkenly lost control of is capsized, he is rescued from a watery death by a little magic and a frantic Meriel. Although he blames her for ruining his life, he soon discovers their fates are bound together. They have but one day to save each other and their burgeoning love before the curse is fulfilled and they are lost to each other forever.

Sela Carsen has brought us an entertaining tale of love and lore. The character of Meriel is a funny girl with an amusing take on life as a seal. Her relationship with Ronan moves a little faster than I though was completely believable, but it is still a fine story to pass a few hours reading. As a lover of Celtic legend, I found mythical aspect of the tale to be quite enjoyable. I look forward to spending time with more of Ms. Carsen’s characters in future releases.
