Lannie, a sculptor, is in love with her boyfriend Kyle and suspects that he is going to ask her to marry him. That is, until the night he storms into her apartment and accuses her of cheating on him with his friend Pete. He becomes violent and bites her. Lannie decides that this is a good time to get out of town. She ends up in Nowhere and starts rebuilding her life.

Kyle is the Alpha of the North American werewolves, and Lannie is his mate. His irrational jealousy causes her to run away and he is determined to find her, even if she is in the middle of Nowhere.

Nowhere becomes the home of a preternatural serial killer who has fixed his sights on Lannie. Lannie has problems of her own; her ex boyfriend is back in town and he has apparently turned her into a werewolf. With an exhibition of her sculpture coming up, and a serial killer on the loose, she has more to worry about than the man who refused to trust her several months before.

While Lannie and Kyle have a lot of chemistry, Lannie is not exactly the brave Alpha female that readers of this genre are used to. I had to laugh when she hid in the bathroom in fear of another attack by the serial killer. The killer’s identity is a little bit of a surprise, but I think that we will hear more about this in the next book. The Hunter (Donovan Vitello), Chrys, and Baby Lizzie are also people I would like to learn more about. The local Sheriff is also more than he seems. Nowhere has just become very interesting.
