Working for Myths and Legends of New Orleans Tour Company, Nikki DuMonde has a
talent for telling stories, some would say a sixth sense for the past. Believing a
coworker has pulled a prank on her in the middle of the night, annoyance turns to horror
the next morning when she finds out that the plea for help had been real and from
beyond the grave at that. Then she meets an intense stranger, and her life changes
forever.

Brent Blackhawk, half Lakota and half Irish, has an affinity for what goes on beyond the
realms of reality. In other words, he can speak to ghosts. When called in to investigate
the murder of an FBI agent, he is reluctant to return to New Orleans. Once there, he finds
the city has a lot to recommend it these days, namely Nikki DuMonde.

Nikki has always felt at home in New Orleans and everything is going great, until she
meets a bum in Madame D’Orso’s coffee shop. Then things start to take a turn for the
worse. A coworker is murdered, yet still likes to drop by. Meeting Brent Blackhawk, she
feels an instant attraction. Now they must work together to solve the murder of her friend
and the death of a FBI agent, without becoming victims themselves.

This book takes you past the infamous Bourbon Street and French Quarter of New
Orleans showing the contrast between the mundane and the surreal, for which the city is
known. The encounters with the various ghosts range from poignant to hair-raising. The
mystery is well written and keeps you guessing who and how right up to the very
shocking end.
