Gladdy Gold may be seventy five and living in Florida, but she and her fellow senior private eyes are by no means ready to retire. She would like to have some alone time with her intended, but she and Jack will just have to get more creative.
Jack Langford is a retired cop and Gladdy’s love. He worries about her and the dangerous situations that she and her friends get into, but supports her as best he can.
A grandpa bank robber, a hurricane, a decades old skeleton, and a Nazi war criminal are only some of the issues that keep Gladdy on her toes. Her relationship with Jack heats up and her sister’s with her ex confuse everyone as the girls chase an elderly bank robber with a sense of humor and try to assist their neighbor Enya who is reliving her time in Auschwitz. A devastating hurricane adds to the chaos as a collapsed building disrupts the living arrangements of everyone in the condo community.
This is a fast moving mystery that will keep you on your toes. There are quite a few mysteries to be found in this story and the eccentric residents of Lanai Gardens had me laughing more than once. Gladdy and Jack’s romance is only one of the story lines and one of the best. I loved the characters, the humor, the setting and the Yiddish glossary in the front of the book. Fans of Agatha Christie will really enjoy this story, which is a rare find, a completely original cozy mystery.
