Dionysus and Torah are cousins who enjoy the finer things in life. Especially when it comes for free, and usually from a wealthy man. They will do just about anything to get what they want.
Jabez, Abel, and Solomon are best friends. They live to go clubbing and show off their material possessions, as well as get the finest women.
The lives of five people become intricately entwined as they are each out for what they can get no matter what they have to do or who gets hurt in the process. Dionysus regularly has sex with men for money and expensive gifts. Torah is constantly stepped on, yet is always there for Dionysus. Solomon does not have as much money as his friends Jabez and Abel, so does what he can to look the part. All five people use sex, alcohol, and money for their own selfish desires.
Floss is a glimpse into the lives of a group of people that most of us do not understand. These characters are not sympathetic to the reader until the very end, when events spin out of control, and they are forced to look at what their lives have become. Proving that anyone can change, the characters all face grave challenges, and must live with the choices they make. The reader should be aware that this is a gritty, street-wise story. Creatively written from various viewpoints, Ms. Jones’ novel is both unsettling, yet inspiring.
