Kathleen Scarlett Mularkey always knew she was nothing special. Even in school, things really never fell in her court until the day she met Tully and her whole world changed. In no time the two were inseparable, and made a pact to always stay close friends.

Tallulah, Tully, Hart had no idea that once meeting Kate, she would find a friend very dear to her heart. The summer of 1974 was not a happy place in her life but meeting Kate made it the best ever. Known as TullyandKate, they wowed never to forget the other.

For the past seven days Kate has been unable to distance herself from her memories. One thing she always remembers is the summer of her eighth grade. To her that was the absolute best time in her life. Meeting Tully had been the highlight of her light. She had never had such a cool friend. They became the best of friends and the weekends they were able to spend together were indeed the best. Even with the passing years, the two were always there for the other. In no time, Kate was dating Johnny, and before she knew what hit her, she was pregnant. Doing the right thing, Johnny proposes. Kate soon finds herself married and more children along the way while Tully enters a world of glamour and success leaving Kate to wonder did she make the right choice in her life.

I think if anyone reads Firefly Lane they will share in the nostalgia and memories that accompanies this book. One cannot help but read about Kate and Tully without feeling that same tug pull at their heart strings. I love the extraordinary day that Kate spends with her daughter, it is most precious. Kristin Hannah fashions a wonderful read about friends, school days, families, and making decisions in one’s life. She gives Kate and Tully the strength to endure almost anything. I found this a robust read, very touching, and loaded with beautiful thoughts and memories.
