Megan Ward is the Enforcer of the Cascadia Pack and the only unmated Ward. She knows there is a mate out there for her but is patient.
Shane Rosario is a doctor and a werewolf. His human mother’s hatred of werewolves and his father’s willingness to hide what he is makes him wary of his other half. He lives like a human in Las Vegas.
When Megan and Shane meet, the attraction is immediate and intense. Each knows that they have found their mate. There are problems almost immediately. As second in the Cascadia Pack, Megan is one of the most powerful wolves in the country and Shane is determined to pretend that he is not a wolf at all, to convince Megan to live like him far from her job and family.
This is one of the best of a really great series. I wondered how the author would handle life after the Werewolf Wars and the last Ward’s mating, and this story answers all my questions. I always liked the Megan character; she is strong, attractive and like her twin, is in a position of great authority in her pack. Shane has repressed that side of his nature and ended up mated to an uber wolf, a situation he does not want to deal with, so he does not. The two end up hurting each other badly before working things out. This is a great view of the life and customs of the Cascadia Pack and goes much deeper into the mate bond and relationship than the previous stories. I am truly sorry that there are no more Wards, but the Rosario clan has some pretty hot wolves I would like to see more of.
