Eliza is escaping her stressful life and stalker boyfriend on a singles cruise. She has always been fascinated with the sea, particularly tales of pirates.

James Butler is one of the most feared pirates on the seven seas. He is ruthless, but fair and honorable in his own way.

One minute Eliza is relaxing and reading a book about one of her favorite pirates, and the next she is on James’ ship, two hundred years in the past. James thinks she is a doxy paying her fare with her body. Eliza wants to return to her own time, but James is every woman’s pirate fantasy come to life.

I really loved this story. The characters are strong and charismatic and the love scenes will have you turning up the air conditioner. The villain and the subplot of how James ended up a pirate really enhanced the story and the reader’s understanding of his character. Eliza is a determined woman with a foul mouth and a sense of humor. The author has captured the essence of pirate life and kept the romance as well. Her descriptions of life at sea both on the pirate ship and the navy vessel are very vivid and there are some very exciting battle scenes. The reader will really feel Eliza’s confusion and determination to make the best of things two hundred years in the past; after all, the compensations are enormous.
