Sara Michaels has tried to get over the death of her mother the best way she can. Falling into an addiction to sleeping pills to forget the pain is not the answer. After her mother's boyfriend, Rafe, is acquitted of the murder, she sells the house and moves to New Orleans to help an author write a true crime book.

Gabriel St. John is a fallen angel and has lived with his punishment for one hundred fifty years. He is bound to New Orleans and knows if he leaves, his punishment will be longer. One part of his punishment is if he touches a woman, she is immediately addicted to him. Upon meeting Sara, he knows he will have a hard time not touching her.

Sara's first impression of Gabriel is that he is cold and holds himself back. Their attraction to each other is instantaneous and after just a few days it is almost oppressive. But they both have lots of baggage and guilt they must deal with. Gabriel has guilt over his girlfriend's murder one hundred and fifty years earlier, and Sara is struggling with the guilt of her mother's death. Can these two find a common ground and help each other, or will they take each other over the edge?

Erin McCarthy continues to amaze me. This book is no exception. Her story line is unique and her characters are so flawed, you cannot help but feel for them. I love Gabriel and Sara. Both of the characters have a lot of depth, just enough that the reader can truly connect with them. Her descriptions of New Orleans are so accurate the reader feels as though they have been there and seen the places she describes. With each book Ms. McCarthy releases, her stories get better and better. This is one book that you should be running out to buy.
