EVERY TIME WE KISS
Rating: 4 Cups
Lady Jennette Selby harbors a devastating secret that she must keep at all costs. After the death of her fiancé five years before, a lie kept her in society’s good graces, a lie that has cost her and someone she cares about dearly.
Matthew Harris has newly come into his title of Earl and is now seeking a rich and respectable wife who can help him put his estates back in shape and keep him from having to turn out this tenants. He has been shunned by polite society for accidentally killing Jennette’s fiancé.
When Matthew sees Jennette again for the first time in five years, he finds that he is still as attracted to her now as he ever was. In fact, the attraction is still so strong, he finds himself giving an ultimatum to Jennette, either she helps him find the perfect wife or she has to marry him herself! However, Jennette still feels horribly guilty about how her fiancé died and has sworn off ever marrying, let alone marrying the man she has so many conflicted feelings about. Even as these two work together and try to fight off their mutual feelings of attraction, someone is in the wings scheming, and if she has her way, all will not end well.
I truly enjoyed Every Time We Kiss because it is classic regency romance. Even though it is classic, I thought Ms. Kelley also managed a very unorthodox plot line; truly ingenious and very creative. I liked how Jennette and Matthew each had their flaws, as well as their good points, as it made them seem more like real people. A lovely story, that I am more than happy to recommend, and an author I will definitely be buying more of in the future.
