He hopes he can get close enough to her to get to know her, but it seems to be a daunting task. However, he is up to the challenge. He has wanted her from the first time he saw her and knew his heart was lost to her. Yet, he wonders if his heart will make it through?

Meeting with the King to receive a title is the perfect solution to the problems of Abrielle and her family. Abrielle’s stepfather served the King a long time during the Crusades. When the King changes his mind about awarding titles, Abrielle learns she has no choice but to accept the horrible Desmond de Marlé’s proposal. Her family’s honor is important to her and she must do anything she can to keep it intact. Abrielle will look for ways to ensure her family will prosper from this union. Laird Raven fills her mind and she is not sure she can shake thoughts of him. He has helped her out on more than one occasion and she feels indebted to him. The Scotsman and his father are not looked upon very well in the Saxon world, but they are strong enough to stand up for themselves when needed. Abrielle knows she must keep the promise she made to Desmond no matter how much she wants to back out. Will she be able to please her family as well as her heart?

Ms. Woodiwiss is an amazing writer. In this novel, she brought history to life and put her own spin on it. Abrielle and Raven came alive for me. I was enamored with Raven from the start. A Scotsman with good morals is always irresistible. Raven would bide his time until they could be together and if need be, would wait for her forever. Of course, he hopes it will not take that long but one can never tell. Get ready for a book that will bring fantasies to life page after page.
