Vida is a peasant with a large and impoverished family. She has sold herself to the
Emperor as Heir Mother for her family’s security. She does not expect to fall in love with
the Emperor Zavier, and is a little apprehensive. The emperor is an Aspectian from a
race of shape shifters.
Zavier has turned his back on his Aspectian heritage and is now living in the human
world. Ever since he saw Vida dancing in the village festival he has wanted her for his
own. He would like her to be more than the Heir Mother, mother of his eldest child. He
wants her to be his one mate.
A peasant girl and a shape-shifting emperor fall in love and plan to marry. His mother
and putative fiancée will stop at nothing to prevent the match. They, however,
underestimate the love that the two have for each other.
This is a very entertaining beauty and the beast tale with an erotic twist. The two main
characters are very likable and the mother and would-be fiancée are willful and spoiled,
determined to get their own way. Vida’s determination to be with Zavier will have the
reader rooting for the couple’s happiness. I really enjoyed this story.
