Hannah Rollesby’s father has passed on and she as the oldest daughter is chosen to
work outside the household to help provide money for her family.  As Hannah starts the
journey from Thetford to Cromer she is understandably nervous.  She has not been
away from home in her 22 years of life.

As Hannah gazes upon the sea for the first time, it is an amazing sight.  She is soon
delivered to Overstrand House by Mr. Bentick.  Her first duty is to serve dinner that
evening.  She is introduced to the housekeeper, Mrs. Tremane and her fellow maids,
Rose and Amelia.  Hannah discovers that the mistress of the household, Alice Paston
has passed on.  She meets the two masters of the home, Edward Paston and his son,
Algernon.   Soon she completes her first night and is shown to her room, which will be
shared with Rose and Amelia.  She is awakened by Rose’s sobs during the night.  The
secrets that Rose has kept will shock you.  The behavior of Master Edward is
unbelievable.   The next morning Master Edward is found hanging by a rope in his study
with the words “The Shallow Soul must Die” painted on the wall.  What do these words
mean?   Soon Algernon takes over as master of the household.  Will history repeat
itself?

Emy Naso writes a story, which will have you riveted to your chair.  What happens with
Hannah is very shocking.  This is my first story by Emy Naso and I am sure it will not be
my last.  If you like suspense and horror with many surprises thrown in, you will love this
e-book.  It is a quick exciting read.
