Jess McCall is a New York based photojournalist who is very suspicious of the whereabouts of her sister, Amanda, in Ebony, Massachusetts. She has not called and now Jess has received an envelope that basically says: open in the case of my death. Jess hightails it to Ebony to find out what is going on.

Frankie Marshall is a former Los Angeles reporter who has now based himself firmly in Ebony. Working for the local paper he also receives an envelope from Amanda McCall and has missed a meeting with her and is also suspicious on where she can be all these weeks later, especially when her sister Jess shows up.

Jess and Frankie are assigned to work together at the newspaper while Jess is in town waiting for Amanda to return. During their investigations they come across very disturbing evidence and it points to Voodoo and creating zombies from the living and the dead. Enter Mike O’Herlihy who is the ex that Jess left behind in New York but he also was in contact with Amanda by phone, she wanted to find out all she could about Voodoo and zombies before she disappeared. Now all teamed together they must prove and find that a voodoo master or high priest is creating a zombie army for some sinister reason of his own and it is very possible many of the town are in on it. Realizing they can trust no one they must find out and stop it before they too are lured and killed or worse, turned into zombies themselves.

This was definitely a one all day and all night sitting for me, I was engrossed to the very end. Whether we believe in voodoo or not makes no difference, some do practice it and many believe, that is all that is needed in this day and age. Is it true that there could be something worse than death; for those that read this book you may just find out. This has you on the edge of your seat and turning pages just to find out what comes next, riveting and thrilling. This also brings into being what happens to us after death, as in ashes to ashes and dust to dust, is there truly life after it and if so is cremation the key, to be rid of the body so nothing can ever happen to it? With these questions, voodoo, zombies, conspiracies and more I hope you enjoy this chilling and spine tingling tale of which the ending you will just have to read to find out what it is.
