DRAGON IN THE SYSTEM
CINDY SPENCER PAPE
Rating: 4 Cups
Dr. Lori Tremain is a herpetologist for Southern Michigan University. Her specialty is lizards, so when a fellow professor has a few strange questions concerning a very large lizard, she is happy to help. She immediately realizes that there is more to this man than meets the eye, and she cannot wait to find out what that is.
Dr. Eric Gordon is a systems analyst for SMU. He has been asked to investigate a computer virus that is randomly attacking computers at the college. His investigation has led to some very bizarre findings, and he enlists Lori’s help. Asking Lori for help may just be the smartest move he has ever made.
Lori knew she was getting too involved with Eric. One failed engagement and her tenure review was more than enough to make her wary of any relationships. But somehow she could not help herself; she was falling for Eric. Helping him with his investigation, Lori was suddenly thrust into a world she could never have imagined. She was not sure what scared her the most, falling in love or hunting down a madman. Eric programmed computer games that paled in comparison to the events going on around him. WYRM viruses, dragons, and a megalomaniac computer hacker became the norm. However having Lori by his side made it seem like a great adventure instead of a terrifying ordeal. He knew that he wanted her by his side forever, and all he had to do was convince her of the same.
This was an amazing pleasure to read. The very different worlds of dragons and modern college life seem an unlikely combination, but Ms. Pape pulled it off brilliantly. Lori is both intelligent and naïve. She lives an almost sheltered life, but is a very passionate person. Eric’s character is fantastic. He is funny, quirky and not too sure of himself. I found them both very believable, and they complimented each other so well. It is refreshing when the characters are not always supermodel perfect but normal people. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and encourage everyone to read it. Even if paranormal is not your thing, you will enjoy this mystical story of love and intrigue. I know I did.
