Lady Jasmina has her hands full running the household and keeping her family’s secret safe. Her aunt Henrietta does her best to help when needed, but Jaz is not sure that is always enough. Magic is a part of her life, but something is still missing and she cannot figure out what that is or where to find it. She never notices anything after doing a spell, but there is now a difference, which makes her wonder what she has done.

Sir Sterling Thorn may be only a baronet, but that has never changed how he looks at life. He wants to reunite with his long lost sister, but his family is no help so he has to look on his own. He puts his whole heart into the search and knows it may take forever. He has no clue what he is about to run into when it comes to magic. He is in for one heck of a surprise that will leave him reeling.

In the dead of night, Jaz steals across town doing her best to keep herself under a cloak of magic. But when she does her last spell, she feels an ache in her hip, which is new. Before she knows it, there are rumors about her that she cannot understand. Meeting with the master of magic only seems to puzzle her more when she tells him about what happened. Then a man comes into the room acting as if he knows her rather well. She is dumbfounded. Slowly putting the pieces together, she realizes that whatever is going on is bigger than she can deal with, and asks the baronet for help. The master agrees that Jaz needs help and that they may work well together. It all comes back to a Brotherhood. But will Sterling and Jaz get their answers in time or will it all fall apart?

This second book in the series was wonderful. I never felt like I was missing anything in the story. There were a few things I was not sure about, but they were minor. Ms. Kennedy does a fantastic job of weaving a story that captivates you from the beginning. I am very curious to see what happens in the next story in this Relics of Merlin series. This book is a wild ride that does not let up and is definitely worth the time reading it from start to the last page.
