When Cate Fante took on her new role as Judge, she had no idea she would have to keep her double life a secret. When a high-profile case inside her courtroom escalates, it is only a matter of time before her cover is blown and the tabloids take over turning her whole life into one chaotic disorder.
Steve Nesbitt, detective must break the news to Cate about Simone being murdered. Most importantly he feels that Richard Marz may be responsible for the killing and that Cate is the next in line to bite the bullet.
Cate enjoys being appointed to the federal bench as Judge, but her first case surrounding a property case in Philadelphia may cause her much more upheaval than she is willing to accept. When Richard Marz, the former prosecutor decides to sue Art Simone, a Hollywood producer over a TV series, Attorneys@Law, Cate coincides in favor with the defense. Unfortunately things turn sour after the case for Simone, leaving Marz wide open as suspect, with Cate’s life possibly in danger. When Cate learns that someone knows about her dark past secrets, it appears that they may surface and expose things about her that she really wants to stay sealed. Now she not only has someone trying to put an end to her career, but take her life as well. In the meantime, Cate begins to have feelings for Steve who is working on the case to find the killer and offer her protection. He has the same feelings for her and both are in such a heat over the happenings, they really do not have the time to act upon their fantasies. Time is of the essence to find the real killer and the perpetrator who desires her complete destruction, if the two wish to find that one special love that spins in their hearts.
Dirty Blonde is an absolutely glittering read that weaves with riveting excitement inside in the courtroom and out. Cate is a dynamic character with guts, compassion and sex appeal that makes this read spellbinding. Steve has that look and charm that pulls the reader into the story as he does his job and keeps a close eye on Cate. The chemistry between the two, along with the ongoing dialogue, makes this one magnificent read. Lisa Scottoline instills some wit, some twists and turns, and an engaging plot, to make a story that continues long after the last page. She sketches a thriller that is awesome. It was hard for me to put this book down. With a great blend of characters, some remarkable Judicial seasoning, this is one story that personifies life in every page.
