Jezzlyn Chambers is called back into service because of her past with the Khajari. She is not happy about it since she must serve under Lucien Krayne, who she is trying to keep at a distance. She senses something is not quite right but is unable to figure out what it is. She is stubborn and often leaps into things without much planning. Jezzlyn wishes she could just move on with her life.

Lucien Krayne is delighted to have the love of his life back where he can reach out to her. He wants her to understand his feelings for her. He has loved her for a long time and wants her to share his life. He is a man who sticks to his convictions. Lucien must figure out what is happening on his ship and keep an eye on Jezzlyn at the same time, something he is not sure that he can accomplish.

Completely frustrated with her situation, Jezzlyn refuses to ask for help, until Lucien tells her she has no option if she wants to work on his ship. Jezzlyn does not deal well with being watched. She understands that the only reason the Alliance wants her is because of her knowledge of the Khajari government. The truce now in place may not last. Jezzlyn must calculate and plan their movements. Can their mission succeed or will Jezzlyn’s emotions get the better of her?

Complex is how I would describe Jezzlyn. She has lots to deal with and is rather stubborn. Lucien only wants the best for her but she seems to be blind to that. Ms. Courtright has written quite the page-turner and still gives the facts needed to understand what is going on. Jezzlyn is the only one who can decide her fate and her future with Lucien, no matter what he thinks.
