Josephine “Jo” Burke is running from her life, a life that was ripped to shreds by a man she thought she could trust. Now that she is in New Orleans, she decides to reconnect with her two best friends, Erika and Maggie.
Maksim Kostova wants to go back ruling his part of Hell, but until his missing sister is found, he knows he must stay up on Earth with the humans. When he is not dipping into people’s minds to find their thoughts, he spends the time seducing human women. Easy, uncomplicated, and slightly boring compared to the paranormal romp he gets with nonhumans.
At the bar visiting with her friends one night, Jo somehow catches the attention of the hunky bartender Maksim. When he suddenly appears at the community center as a volunteer, she knows something is up with him. Why would a dangerously handsome and suave man want to spend his days wiping kids’ runny noses and cleaning up vomit? His reasoning is to get into Jo’s pants, but he soon realizes that his feelings are growing, which cannot happen since he is a demon, can it?
Demon Can’t Help It is a great book in which we are introduced to two people who think they want sex without strings but realize they want more. Ms. Love shows us Jo, a woman who was mentally scarred by a man who she thought loved her and a demon who thinks he cannot love anyone. The only problem I had with this novel is that there seem to be parts that connect to another book which I have not read. I grew to love Maksim with his gruff exterior but soft interior and Jo’s struggle to survive after the crushing blow she was dealt. The sex scenes are hot and spicy, the emotional scenes are very touching, and the whole storyline will keep you smiling until the very end.
