Harley Jean Davidson makes her living as a tour guide in Memphis, Tennessee; but
lately she seems to have acquired another job as well, sleuth. As an investigator, Harley
is a little out of her depth, but her relatives keep getting themselves into situations that
take her own special brand of snooping.

Mike Morgan meets Harley on her first case as an amateur sleuth, and she makes a
lasting impression on him. He is an undercover policeman who has fallen in with a
woman who seems to be a magnet for trouble. It is a good thing he has been trained to
handle just such situations.

Since helping her father and mother out of their troubles a few weeks ago, it should be a
cinch that Harley help her aunt, too. Especially when she is offered a five thousand dollar
bonus. That will buy her a lot of bean burritos, her favorite fast food, a craving that
borders on obsession. But Harley never dreams she will get embroiled in a murder
investigation, or that she will be in danger time and again.

The way Harley Jean reacts to each new problem that comes her way, neither too prissy
nor too macho, makes her all the more endearing. Each character is written with warmth
and charm, and a particularly Southern eccentricity that rings true. Harley meets every
situation head on with a sense of hilarity that is never forced, all the while avoiding
smugglers, thieves, murderers, and one homicidal goose. This mystery kept me
guessing right up to the end; and, of course, there is always Harley Jean’s next case to
look forward to.
