Michael Carpo spends most of his year in New York as a news writer/reporter, but every
summer he goes to his friend’s Connecticut home for a week of relaxation. When he
arrives he gets a big surprise that has him hot on the trail of a murderer.

Amanda Cutler lives in one of the neighboring houses. When she stops by to borrow a
few flowers, she and Michael are instantly attracted to each other.  However, Amanda
seems to have a few secrets hiding behind her baby blue eyes. Secrets that could get
Michael killed.

Michael loves his annual getaway to Connecticut, but when he arrives this year, it is to
find his friend dead. He thinks it is murder, despite the ruling of suicide by the coroner.
Carpo sets out to prove it before the killer can strike again. While doing so, he also
becomes involved with Amanda, but can he trust her?

Dead of Summer is well written and taut with suspense. It keeps you guessing right up
until the climactic ending. The author describes the places and people so well that they
almost leap off the page. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good
suspenseful whodunit with an every day Joe as the main character.
