Kristin Knight is a sergeant in the marines and is on her way to the planet Thorus. She has been in stasis for five years and wakes an hour before they land. When she and her squad are briefed, they learn that their contact on Thorus has not responded in some time. None of them know what to expect and they are definitely in for a wild and scary ride.

Darius Morgan is one of the last colonists that inhabited Thorus left alive. He sees the ship carrying Kristin land and knows that everyone on board is dead if they stay. He cannot help them as he has been infected with the Samite virus; only his change is not complete. When he is captured after killing an infected soldier, he decides to help the humans kill the Samites.

Kristin and her squad face the aliens bravely, even while terrified they will die. When Darius agrees to help, they join forces to wipe the Samites out completely on Thorus and the aliens' home planet. But Kristin knows Darius from when they were children. The love she felt for him then surfaces again, as does his for her, and they both know their passion cannot be denied.

Space travel, deadly aliens, and passion abound. The fight sequences are wonderful and you can tell Ms. Becker did her research. The characters are unique, but still seem to be both human and alien at the same time. Ms. Becker has a wonderful knack of writing futuristic romance and an imagination beyond compare. The passion between the hero and heroine is something special to read as they rediscover the people they are. This is a book that I will recommend to all my friends.
