Jesse Reese is an ER doctor on suspension. She decides to take her vacation in the wilds a little sooner than anticipated. After all, she will get to see Darius, the pilot she has the hots for.
Darius Waterbear is Alaskan Native and has had his eye on Dr. Reese for a long time. He even goes so far as to make sure she rents “his” cabin for her vacations, just so he can camp out nearby and ogle her. Lately, he has been reading romance novels and figures he has discovered the definitive manuals for capturing the modern woman.
Upon her arrival at the cabin, Jesse gets a funny feeling when she hears Darius speaking to the lake. She asks him whom he is talking to, and he tells her a legend, or is it? It quickly becomes obvious that Jesse understands more of the legend than anyone ever has before. This makes her even more attractive to Darius. Each soon realizes that the other has been attracted to them the whole time, and things get very hot very fast. But after two days of bliss, Jesse gets a message that she must return to Anchorage. She becomes so wrapped up in both the reality of the legend and the fact that someone is trying to get her medical license lifted, she pushes Darius away. Only time will tell if these two are able reconnect.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The romance was realistic and the characters multi-dimensional. I suspect the legend was fabrication, but it was clear the author had done the research to make it plausible. The sex and caring between Darius and Jesse was explosive. Reading about Darius trying to figure things out had me roaring with laughter! I highly recommend this book; it is a keeper!
