Deputy Trish Franklin picks up Grey Lawson for a lift home. Trish knows that Grey just got out of prison, and that if her father saw her giving him a lift, Trish would not hear the end of it. But Trish figures that Grey has paid his debt, and his aunt is one of Trish’s good friends.
Grey Lawson did not want to return to the town that had put him in prison, but because of his love for his aunt, he went back to help take care of her. Grey had spent seven years in prison, and now with God’s grace he is out, and hopefully soon he could move on, after he helped his aunt.
When a string of reports of someone playing chicken with their vehicles were called in, naturally everyone wanted to believe it was Grey, as he had a driven drunk and two of his friends are killed. But Trish knew it was not Grey doing it; it was someone trying to frame him. Trish and Grey are becoming close, and both know it would not be a good idea for them to have a relationship. But when secrets are revealed and the past is proven; would God smile on Trish and Grey to have a future together?
This is a warm and touching story that makes you step back and think about forgiving and forgiveness. Ms. Cote takes you to a small town in Wisconsin, where one man has given his life to God after a time in prison. Exceptionally written with great emotion and a real life situation. Warm romantic love scenes are a healing touch for this heart stirring tale. A fantastic read.
