Alain Magnier is a wizard. He is the first wizard to form a lasting alliance with Orlando. He and Orlando have become lovers, and their bond has become eternal.
Orlando St. Clair is a vampire. He is still struggling with the abuse he received at the hands of his maker, but he loves Alain and is willing to do whatever it takes to make him happy.
Thierry Dumont is Alain’s best friend and a fellow wizard. He just lost his wife and is struggling with the bond he has formed with Sebastien, another vampire. He does not feel he is ready to begin another relationship.
Sebastien Noyer is Thierry’s vampire partner, and like Thierry, he feels their strong bond but is reluctant to pursue it since he lost the love of his life four hundred years before.
The alliance between Alain and Orlando has spread to include many other vampire and wizard pairs capable of fighting together in daylight or at night. However, not all of the pairs are getting along, and whether or not they will be able to put their reservations aside and put the alliance first remains to be seen. Meanwhile their enemy Serrier, has become very curious as to why wizards and vampires are fighting together, so much so that getting his hands on a vampire with no scruples becomes his top priority. As if that were not bad enough, one of the pairs discovers that there may be more to the pairings than previously thought, and the knowledge is such that if it were to become common knowledge, it could hurt the alliance. Will Orlando be able to overcome his abusive past enough to give Alain what he needs? Will Thierry and Sebastien be able to stop living in the past and see what is right in front of them? Will the alliance stand?
As with the first book in this series, I started out wondering if I was going to like the story or not, but as I kept reading and the author started dropping clues, I was hooked! Covenant in Blood is every bit as good as Alliance in Blood! The world building is just as incredible, and Ms. Tachna has added even more depth to it, such that I could not put the book down until I’d read the last page. I loved the fact that Alain and Orlando still were key players in this book, and getting to see how their relationship developed was a real treat. The author also does an incredible job of bringing in all the different wizard and vampire pairs and what is going on with them. I was afraid at first that I would get confused about who was who, but as I read I found that was not the case. Of course all the blistering hot m/m sex did not hurt either. I am waiting with bated breath for the next book in this series! Whatever you do, do not miss this series, it is fantastic!
