| CONVENIENT DISPOSAL STEVEN F. HAVILL ISBN#0-373-26545-X November 2005 Worldwide Mystery 225 Duncan Mill Rd., Don Mills, Ontario M3B 3K9 Paperback $5.99 284 Pages Mystery Rating: As the Posadas County, New Mexico, Undersheriff, Estelle Reyes-Guzman knows how to avoid the pitfalls and potholes of small town politics and even smaller town minds. However, when a girl is savagely beaten and a man goes missing all in one day, she knows something much bigger is in the wind. When Estelle confiscates a sharpened hatpin from a middle school student, she has no idea that it will lead to the assault on a young girl or a missing person in the form of town manager, Kevin Zeigler. Is Mr. Zeigler a suspect or a victim that was in the wrong place at the wrong time? Her investigation leads her down a treacherous and winding path filled with potential suspects and ends up in one of the most unlikely places. Posadas County may be a small town, but that does not mean it does not have big time corruption simmering beneath its seemingly placid surface. Being from a very small town myself, and having worked in a police department/town hall, I really understood this book. The undersheriff having to deal with council members that entertain a god complex is something that happens every day. I really loved the way the sheriff’s department used good old-fashioned detective work instead of resorting to flashy methods. This mystery is engrossing and keeps you in suspense right up until the end. Jenn Reviewer For Karen Talk About New Books Reviewer For Coffee Time Romance |
