Elizabeth Shaw is a single mother raising a young son, and also preparing to open a new restaurant with her grandmother. They have moved back to their hometown and hope to settle down and start a new life, but the past keeps getting in the way.
Daniel Rivers is the son of the local minister and has realized that his one true love is back in town. Lizzy is here and he cannot understand why she left him seven years ago with never a word and even now she is backing away from him.
This is about small town living and everyone knowing everything locally going on. The problem is, Elizabeth had a very rough upbringing with a mother who partied and put herself first and a father she has never known about. Falling in love with the son of the local minister did not help the gossip, especially when she became pregnant and was hustled out of town soon after by her mother. Now she is back, a working mother and determined not to be shamed anymore by anyone.
This is about people having their own problems, yet condemning others in their eyes just to make themselves feel better. People who call themselves Christians should not be the first to cast someone out when they themselves have secrets they want hidden. This is telling us no one is blameless or sinless; everyone has problems and things they keep secret. In this story we have God working his way to get through to his people in one way or another. Sometimes love is enough to get us through, and other times truth and faith is instead. The moral is no one is beyond redemption and everyone has a story, do not judge them unfairly and give them a chance.
