Courtney Love is having a rough time with her life. All she wants to do is forget it all. She decides to pick up a novel by her favorite author, Jane Austen, never knowing how it might change her life this one time. Jane Austen is the only author that she can read more than once and still enjoy every page.
Jane Mansfield seems to have some difficult things to deal with. Her mother wants to see her married off, but her father wants her to be happy. Riding her horse is something she enjoys and a way for her to get beyond her mother’s grasp. Yet even that will be an event that will change her life. One fall might be the jumpstart that will give her life a different turn.
Waking up in some other person’s body is just the beginning to Courtney’s problems. She has to figure out her new world and learn how to be a genteel lady. With all that she has been through, that may not be an easy task to accomplish. She has no memory of the life of Jane Mansfield, so she can only believe what she is told. The world of Jane Austen had seemed so beautiful and now she is getting a reality check to see what it was really like. She enjoys the life to some extent, but wants to go back home. She realizes she took a lot of luxuries she had in present day for granted. Hopefully she can keep men at bay and get answers to questions that are lingering around her. Also, she hopes she can find a way to get back home.
Ms. Rigler does an absolutely fantastic job! I was thoroughly impressed with how well the story did as a time travel story. Courtney did get quite a shock and I enjoyed it while watching her embrace her new life. There were times that I got a little confused with the situations in the story but they were cleared up, only because Courtney did not even know some of what was happening. Anyone who loves Austen stories will not only love this book but the few surprises along the way. I have read Jane Austen and may not be an addict, but this book did such a wonderful job of presenting that world through present-day eyes. I felt like I was really there!
