Kathleen Doherty Peterson, who lives with her young daughter Maggie, is the author of fourteen novels and a comic strip. An old love reappears bringing up upsetting memories.

Daniel, a talented artist, has spent four years missing Katherine. He learns she is a widow and tries to get close to her again.

Kathleen and her good cartoonist, Ralph, gave birth to the comic strip, Wazzoo Corners. Even though she has much going on in her life, she feels it is comparable to a soap opera. Daniel has never gotten over Kathleen. He would like to connect with her again, but she is afraid to risk her life for love again, especially since the passing of her husband after a terrible accident. Daniel is a passionate man and it shows in his work. The painting he once did of Kathleen, every stroke revealed that he still loves her. Katherine’s friend Patrick believes she needs to heal and he does not mean about the death of her husband John, but rather the loss that she felt with Daniel, and move on with her life. With friends pushing to get the two back together, Kathleen cannot deny the feelings that she is not over Daniel.

Coming Home the Long Way weaves a story of love, lost love, tender romance, conflict, sabotage and just about everything that keeps the reader spellbound. The characters are fascinating and the strength they each endure brings them closer together as a big huge family. Margaret Wilson fashions a poignant story that is not only genuine but reaches out and touches the reader. It is not only well-written but allows the reader to get an in-depth feeling of all the characters, not just the main ones, as well as feel their emotions and kept this reader grabbing the tissues.
