Tessa Carlyle is a National Geographic location scout, and in hiding. She used to be an operative for the US government, but when she sees her own boss and a fellow agent do nothing to stop an atrocity, she stages her own death. She never thinks to see Logan Chambliss again, but something from her past throws them together, and she cannot be happier to see him.

Logan Chambliss quit working for the government, tried to forget about Tessa who he thought was dead, and went on to become a doctor and run his own privately owned ops agency called Dragon One. He is not counting on the US government to come knocking on his door and requesting he get a man out of Venezuela that he despises and considers responsible for Tessa’s death. When he sees Tessa again he is at turns ecstatic and pissed off, but even so he is glad she survived.

When Tessa gets a call from a man she hoped to never hear from or see again, she is not happy. When the man proceeds to blackmail her into to coming to Venezuela and helping him she gets angry. However, she knows she does not have a choice, so she meets him and picks up the item he asks her to. Unfortunately in the process Logan and his men are trying to get the same man out of Venezuela, and in the process they get caught. They finally get free and Tessa and Logan hook up again, but now they have bigger problems because they are in a country where all routes of escape have been cut off, and in the possession of a map that they must figure out. It becomes a race against time to keep Tessa hidden, and a governmental loose cannon from killing her. With a madman from the Venezuelan government on their tails, and Tessa’s enemy closing in, Tessa and Logan must find the answers, get their man out of Venezuela, and stay alive. All during which their love is rekindled. Who will win?

Come as You Are is one of those books that you cannot put down until you have read the last page! I stayed up late flipping pages myself. Tessa is just the sort of heroine we all wish we could be, she kicks butt with the best of them. I really loved the fact that Logan and Tessa have such big hearts and while they did not always agree with their government and what it did, they were willing to step up to the plate in order to save lives. They were able to see the big picture, and the author did an excellent job of portraying this. The action scenes in this story are excellent and clearly well researched. Of course the very romantic happily-ever-after was a real tear jerker which made this book that much more enjoyable. Come as You Are is a book that is well worth having in your library!
