CIRCLE OF WOLVES
Rating: 4 Cups
Evan Forester is more than just the mage that he was meant to be. Bitten by a werewolf as a child, his dual nature makes him different from the other mages. He does not see the future for himself that his friends take for granted, like a wife and family.
Kira is the daughter of the Alpha werewolf. She is the keeper of the history of the wolves and very powerful. She is also kind and generous towards the Curse or Bitten wolves. The Blood or born wolves usually shun them.
A power shift in the world of the Mages forces them to seek alliances outside of their kind. His mentor sends Evan to find the werewolves and to convince them to ally with the White Mages. A long search finally leads him to them. Blood wolves distrust and look down upon those like Evan and fear mages. Evan finds himself drawn to Kira, the daughter of the family, and finds a friend in Alexi, the eldest son. They teach him about his wolf side, and in Kira he finds his soul.
I enjoyed this story very much. The plot is intricate but never boring, and the characters are vivid and multilayered. The author reveals her story slowly and deliberately, allowing the reader to get to know the characters and their histories. Kira and Evan have much to learn about each other and their respective backgrounds, and there are enough misunderstandings to make the growing love story interesting. This story held my interest from the beginning until the end.
