Lydia is helping her mother make a move to London a few months after her father's passing. But she soon finds her mother is very busy with a man twenty years her junior. Thinking the worst, that this man is taking advantage of her mother, she flies to London only to confront the wrong man -- insulting him.
Raphael is the man Lydia chewed out. Even though he is insulted by her words, he did not give her the chance to apologize. But now, he wants to find her as he cannot seem to get her out of his mind.
A second chance meeting gives Lydia the chance to apologize for her actions. Yet what ensues is growing feelings they both have toward each other. But Lydia's past has come back to haunt her, and Raphael will stop at nothing to keep her safe.
I must say I had high hopes for this story but was slightly disappointed. I liked the characters and their story. I only wish there was a bit more chemistry between Lydia and Raphael. As the story flowed along, it felt choppy and just a bit sterile. But if you read between the lines, it is an enjoyable book. I would be interested in reading the rest of THE APHRODITE AFFAIRS to see if they are just a bit spicier.
